Major Canadian and international artists in eight days of outdoor and indoor concerts; premiers of both classical and contemporary works; jam sessions; club dates; master classes; workshops; discussions and interactive new-media investigations. From symphonic world premiers, RAP the traditional sounds of Nigeria, Senegal, and Rwanda, to Afro Pop of New Guinea, the rhythms of the Caribbean, the spiritual of jazz, blues and gospel, and traditional Gullah songs of Georgia, Black rock and soukous, all paid homage to the Globes African musical lineage and celebrated at CELAFI 1992 & 1997
MUSIC AFRICA
Music Africa is a non-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting African Music in Toronto. Each year, Music Africa stages a major event – AFROFEST – Featuring both international and local artists, as well as many regular concerts and dances. Membership is open to both Africa and non-Africa residents of Canada. CELAFI thanks Music Africa for their contribution to the 1992 program.
